Asbestos Victims

June 20, 2012

Asbestos victims are not feeling the love from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber is pushing a one-sided bill that attempts to hurt asbestos victims by allowing the asbestos industry to delay and deny accountability so victims die before they are able to receive justice. Please ask your Representative to oppose H.R. 4369, the “Furthering Asbestos Claim Transparency (FACT) Act of 2012”  — a bill that shields an industry that has known of the dangers associated with asbestos exposure as early as the 1930s. The bill has nothing to do with transparency and everything to do with delaying justice and avoiding accountability. Congress should focus on keeping Americans safe from asbestos exposure and not protecting corporations that knowingly exposed workers and consumers for decades. This bill is an insult to families whose loved ones have died or are dying from asbestos-related diseases.
