Memorial Day Car Crashes

May 20, 2012

The National Safety Council predicts an increase in car crashes for the Memorial Day holiday weekend. No surprise here, but the Council tells us that, for the past six years, the Memorial Day holiday weekend has had an 11.5% average increase in car crash traffic fatalities, as compared to similar non-holiday periods. It is reported that this year the Council estimates that car crashes will account for 420 traffic fatalities and another 42,000 “medically consulted” injuries over the Summer 2012 kick-off weekend. We implore you to drive safely, so that you and your passengers are not Memorial Day (or any other day) accident victims. Summer driving can turn deadly. Think Safety, Please.
