Insurance policy. No, make that plural: insurance polices.

October 10, 2011

Injury attorneys should be familiar with many kinds of insurance coverage. The most prevelent type is one or another kind of liability insurance, commonly for premises or vehicles (sub-types are for owners, lessees and tenants) . However, other kinds and different variations of liability coverage often come into play. Broad knowledge of such varied insurance types and kinds will enable the injury attorney to best guide the seriously injury client, or the family of a wrongful death victim. Here are some examples of different insurance coverage types: Motor Vehicle Coverage, including bodily injury, collision, Uninsured Motorists Coverage, Supplementary Uninsured/ Underinsured Motorists Coverage, No-Fault Insurance (which inevitably requires knowledge of the New York No-Fault Threshold: Serious Injury laws and requirements), General Liability Coverage for Bodily Injury and Property, Commercial General Liability, Residential and Multiple Dwelling and Commercial Fire and Property Insurance,  Life Insurance, Disability Insurance, Title Insurance, Directors and Officers Liability Insurance Coverage, Workers’ Compensation, Marine Insurance and Professional Liability Insurance such as legal malpractice and medical malpractice insurance. We have never encountered a case involving the following types, but who knows what the future will bring? : Aviation and Space Insurance.
